To Egil Lyngens family, I am very sad to hear of Egil's passing this must have been a very emotional time. I had the pleasure of working with Egil on a couple of occasions. In fact Egil designed the home that I built on Bowen Island. He went above and beyond the call of duty and we developed a true friendship. I would often meet Egil for lunch at a Thai restaurant, one week he would pay the bill and the next week I would reciprocate. We had a great time and enjoyed each others friendship and conversations. He spoke fondly of his love of the ocean and boating, often mentioning his brother and the two identical boats, one named the twin boys. He always spoke of Ruby in a manner that showed love. I did not know that Egil was suffering from ALS, I thought that simply we had moved on with our lives, families and jobs, I hoped that Egil enjoyed his time in Campbell River, boating. I called his office today and am in a bit of shock, now I have lost a friend ....... but certainly I have had the pleasure of befriending and knowing such a fine gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.

My deepest condolence to your family. I worked with Egil as Technologist in the late year of 1990's. He was a very supportive architect and learned about this profession. He will be in prayers.

It is with great sadness I learned today of Egil's death. I worked for his architectural firm for a couple of years in the nineties and worked on many of his projects. He was a kind man with a special sense of humour. Although we only met a handful of times since then, I always spoke kindly of him. My deepest condoliances to his family.

We are thankful for all the architectural help from Egil. We were unable to contact him and now we know that the ALS disease was to blame.

Egil was such a positive presence at the Scandinavian Centre, always friendly and ready to help with so many things. And he was always ready to share his fondness for his little dog, adding warmth to everything we did together. I will miss him and offer sincere sympathy to Egil's family.

To Egil's family and friends:
Our sincerest condolences. I was so shocked and sorry to learn of his passing. Since the early 1990s we had such good times volunteering together at Norwegian House Society and the Scandinavian Community Centre, as well as working together on design projects. He was always generous with his time, ideas, advice and friendship. He is missed.

We knew Egil in Vernon from almost the first day of the family's arrival from Norway in 1955 and have had contact throughout Egil's rich and varied life. It is sad he has been taken at a relatively young age. Heartfelt condolence to his family at their loss.
