This very sad news has taken me by surprise. Elena was friendly and did not let on that she was sick. We were planning to spend some time together, and that time never came. I will remember her from our encounters at school breakfasts, at birthday parties, and from both our short and longer conversations. I will particularly remember her special east coast uniqueness, her smartness, and of course her beauty on the outside as well as on the inside. Fondly and with a sad heart, I wish for her...
