Elizabeth Mary Lagana

1930 - 2021

Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Lagana was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on June 24, 2021 at age 91. She was born on February 2, 1930, in Waterbury to Anthony and Sophie (Gladke) Hubeny. She lived in Plantsville her whole life, first on her parents' farm, then later with her husband Salvatore Charles Lagana whom she married on September 1, 1947. Together they had 6 children, Salvatore Lagana Jr, Barbara Middleton, Mark Lagana, David Lagana, Paul Lagana and Doreen Lagana, now deceased. Elizabeth loved her family and loved creating delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. She was tough, but caring and was never afraid to speak her mind. She ran a successful daycare out of her home with her daughter Doreen and they treated the children as if they were their own, and enjoyed talking for hours to her friends and family. She loved watching her shows, to read and kept a spotless home. She was the most honest, sincere and loving person and loved by everyone. Elizabeth was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church In addition to her children, she leaves her grandchildren, Michelle Rumery, Brian Middleton, Rachel Brisson, Amanda Lagana (deceased), Matt Lagana, Sarah Cardone, Michael Lagana, Anthony Lagana and Dominic Lagana. She had three brothers and three sisters, Jennie Rinato, Anthony "Sonny" Hubeny Jr (deceased), Robert "Bobby" Hubeny, Sophie Barry, Patricia Tomczak, and David Hubeny. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 1st at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
