Ellen Ray Franklin

Al, we are so srry to have just read about Ellen. Sending our sincere condolences.

Dear Allan,
Yesterday I received an e-mail from Carol Brush Nicholson telling me of Ellen's recent death. I was devasted to hear this news. Ellen and I were roommates freshman year in Hammond House and really hit it off. Since I was a nursing major and would spend sophmore and junior years in NYC, we made a pact to room together when I returned to camppus senior year. We did and easily resumed our friendship.
Years passed without seeing each other until our 45th reunion when we enjoyed...

Ellen and I were two "lone" freshmen from Texas back at Skidmore. We seemed to have a special bond and I have always remembered her very fondly. All of my sympathy to her family.

To Allen and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Ellen and I knew each other, briefly, through reunions. At our 50th, Ellen and you stayed in an upstairs room while I and another were on the first floor of the unit on Skidmore grounds. It was a pleasure to meet both of you. Ellen's contributions and presence were so significant..my deepest condolences. Ellie Turnbull Fraser

Debbie Day,etc. here--- I WAS SHOCKED to just read about Ellen's death on the Skidmore web-site...Ellen and I were Hammond House Freshmen at 'school' along with a West Texas student, Beverly Mitchell! Seems there was an "attitude" Ellen felt for West TX .... I believe that changed by Graduation!

Ellen then became my Junior year Roommate at Van Dusen ... we became very close that year and she - at our 40th reunion - thanked me for exposing her to a larger interaction with people!!! I...

On behalf of the Skidmore Class of '63, I send love and condolances to Ellen's family. We are all deeply shocked and saddened bu Ellen's death.

Allen, my deepest condolences. At our 50th Skidmore Class Reunion, Ellen was radiant... and so in love. She (and you) found me in the concourse lounge at the Albany Airport as we waited for departing fights. I actually missed my flight call, but never regretted the few extra moments visiting with you both. Ellen was a dear classmate; sociable and "people smart" as can be. She will be greatly missed.

I met Ellen when we roomed in Hammond House at Skidmore in 1959. Sweet is the word that comes to mind first, then considerate and gentle. My best to her family.

Although we only met Ellen once, she impressed us both with her warmth, intelligence and friendliness. Allan, we are so sorry that she is no longer with us, but also no longer suffering. Linda and Martin
