Kathy, my deepest condolences to you and your family on your loss. Sending love.

The last time I saw Ellen was when she had an exhibit of her photographs in the JP library a few years ago. We shared the same birth year and month, so I always felt a special connection to her. I was so sad to hear of her illness and her passing, but I am grateful that she lived in a special place in my heart, and she still does. My deepest condolences to Kathy and to Josh. May you find comfort in knowing you now have an angel to guide your every step. She will always be with all of us who...

At every march, protest, vigil or celebration related to social justice: there was Ellen. She was always keenly focused, kind and superbly good at her craft. From the 1980s forward, I came to know her as one of the most decent and stalwart members of our community and I always looked forward to seeing her and checking in. I loved hearing her speak of her immense love of and pride in her son, her love of her family, her thoughts on the politics of the day.. She will remain so much a part...

I didn't know Ellen well and hadn't seen her in years, but we'd run into each other occasionally at public events, cameras in hand ready to document whatever unfolded. Ellen always greeted me with a warm smile, and seemed to have a calm, centered presence that I admired. Very sorry to hear of her passing, and she will be missed.

a woman of valor who shared her strength and shed light into the world.

"Shubie" and her camera were ever present at every march, demonstration or social justice event I can remember. She was an amazing photographer, a good and wonderful person and will be missed by so many. What a terrible loss!

She was a woman about town with a camera in hand, inquisitive, focused and New Jersey funny. So well loved by her tribe. We will miss you Ellen Shub.
