Elsie Mae LaPrad Troxel

My Aunt Elsie Troxel, my Dad's sister, leaves me with fond memories. When she was young, and I was little, her 4 brothers and sisters from Delphi, Rossville, Chicago, and all of us kids, would gather for Christmas in the finished basement Elsie and Morie were living in while they built the house in Lafayette. Those were wonderful Christmases.

I lost a wonderful friend yesterday. Elsie would have been 98 in a few weeks. She was almost totally blind, and could barely walk. We had become friends in the 80s, but lost touch over time. Then, in 2002 she called me out of the blue and wanted me to help her in her garden. I told my husband that I would go talk to her, but I did not have time to help her, I was way to busy! When I got there she showed me around the garden, and didn't give me the opportunity to say 'No', she just assumed...

She was a wonderful inspiration.
