ELISE SCHUYTEN, DAUGHTER OF PETER SCHUYTEN, WAS ONE OF OPA'S GREAT -GRAND DAUGHTERS....SHE IS A VERY LUCKY LITTLE GIRL TO HAVE SUCH A SPECIAL OPA!! I KNOW THAT SHE WILL REMEMBER HER OPA AND WILL HAVE LOTS OF PICTURES AND STORIES TO REFRESH HER MEMORY FOR TIMES TO COME. ELISE, YOUR OPA LOVED YOU. HE WAS A KIND AND GENTLE MAN....YOU HAVE A LOT OF YOUR OPA IN YOU AND THAT IS A GOOD THING!! MOMMY AND DADDY WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT OPA AS YOU GROW...YOU WILL LAUGH AND LAUGH...!

Dear Vondeling Family,
I had the great pleasure of meeting Opa and Oma through their daughter, Cobie. They were the most loving couple anyone could have ever met. If only we all could have bottled Opa's great enthusiasm....Take care and know our thoughts are with all of you during your sad time. The love of life lives on in all of Opa and Oma's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I am proud to have known Opa and Oma and to have been a part of the extended family.
...

Opa was my grandfather and such a wonderful man. He made me feel special and unique. He made me laugh and live life to the fullest - not to take things to seriously. I will miss him and love him very much!

Eltjo is my grandfather and I could not be more proud. He was a great man who worked hard for his family. He was always smiling and shaking hands with gentlemen and kissing ladies hands. He taught me a lot in life and my children will be passed on his beliefs. For my Opa, I love you and I am glad you are able to watch over me and my children closer now.

To the Vondeling Family;

I met Joe way back when as a young boy, and my father (Charlie) stated that this was one man to get to know...a great "people person" that would go out of his way to help in any way he could. A business man that opened the door to many clients, for I can recall broken windows (that I might have caused) that my father would take to Joe's shop for repair (or screens...didn't matter).

Over the years, I had had the pleasure of running into...

I met Eltjo many years ago while working for Rockwell Hardware and then at McDermitt's Bakery. Always a very sweet man. I've seen him a few times at Baldwin's and always said hello to him. One of my favorite customers. He will be sadly missed.
