Your going to be missed shipmate

It's been nearly a year since the passing of Mr. Hoagland. I think of him often and now that the familiar chill of the December has returned, my thoughts of Eric have heightened. Also, at this time each year, the Jimmy V Foundation pinnacles as it combines college hoops with its fundraising efforts. I have always made it a point to listen to Volvano's famous ESPY speech and this year was no different. However, this year Volvano's speech hit a little closer to home, it drew tears that were...

Eric, you will be missed.

What a spectacular and truly deserving send off for our beloved friend, Eric after his battle for life against cancer. I know many of us are relieved to see an end to his struggle to survive in his earthly form, now restored to its heavenly completeness by Gods hand. Tina, the people who loved Eric are many and they will always be ready to help Caitlin and you anytime, anywhere, just let us know. Thank you for letting us share the emotional ceremony to correctly ground ourselves during...

What a spectacular sendoff for Eric. I can see him surrounded by dad, mom and Grandpa Knapp watching the proceedings with a big grin on his face. He must be delighted at the participation of the Durham Police Dept, Wake County Sheriffs Dept, Navy and Fire Dept. I will miss my nephew but will delight in Caitlin who seems so like him.

I sorry to hear about your loss. Always remember that know matter what goes on life you can always turn to God to help you to get through.

Eric served with me on the Austin. He was a fine young man who always had a good outlook. He will be sadly missed.

BM1 Eric Hoagland was a friend and shipmate. He was one of the first members to join his last Command. He asked very few questions of what was expected of him; he simply offered his background and charachter. It was a privelege and honor to have served with him and I know beyond doubt that we will one day again share "roll call" in heaven. God bless the Hoagland family. Very Respectfully, MMCS(SW) Kevin Williams

It has been an honor to serve beside you in the USNR. Whether it was at the Center at 0630 for gate guard duty or shooting on the firing line we all made the most of it. Of course telling cop stories on the bus to Quantico always made the trip shorter :)Keep up the good work Hoagie Bait.
