Eric Michael Peterson was born on June 25, 1976 in Spencer, Iowa. Son of Keith and Debbra Peterson, a farming family south of Ayrshire, Iowa. Eric attended kindergarten at Ayrshire Community School and 1st-12th at Laurens-Marathon where he excelled as a hard hitting linebacker on the then Northwest Raiders football team.

Eric had the biggest heart. He was a proud father and grandfather and shared a very special bond of love and understanding with his loving wife, Tammy. Loved by his family and everyone who knew him, Eric could light up the room with his smile and always knew how to soften the tension with just the right amount of dry Peterson wit. Generous to the end, Eric

profoundly affected multiple families through organ donation.

Eric took great joy in the simple things in life and great pride in his work. He was a dedicated machinist and CNC manager at Rosenboom in Spirit Lake at the time of his passing. He also thrived as an entrepreneur alongside Tammy as they spent 4 years building the Mainstreet Pub and Grill in Bancroft into a premiere dining and entertainment venue.

Eric is preceded in death by his father Keith Peterson, maternal grandparents Orin and Evelyn Kenyon of Hartley, paternal grandparents Ralph and Amy Peterson of Ayrshire, and a nephew, Kaleb Peterson-Earth. He is survived by his wife Tammy and grandson Kyan of Spencer, son Elijiah Updike of Worthington, Minnesota, children Zachary Schmidt and wife Chelsey of Los Angeles, California, Sierra Eldridge of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Brianna Schubert and husband Kyle of Spencer, mother Debbra Peterson of Spencer (previously of Ayrshire), brothers Brian Peterson and wife Kristen of Edwardsville, Illinois, Kevin Peterson and wife Joy of West Des Moines, Iowa, and John Peterson and wife Krystle of Seattle, Washington. He will be often remembered and greatly missed by all those mentioned as well as by 4 additional grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Eric was a college sports enthusiast and a truly dedicated Iowa Hawkeye fanatic. In his memory and honor the family requests that you dress casually and wear the colors of your favorite college team on the day of his funeral ceremony on Saturday, May 15 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer at 1pm.

Deb and family
Sorry for your loss. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. and our family along with many others from Ayrshire and Laurens have so many good memories.
Remembering you and your loved one today and always. Your in our thoughts and prayers

Debbie and Family, I was so saddened to hear about Eric. I remember babysitting the boys. I always thought he was the cutest, sweetest little guy....yet he had that ornery twinkle in his eyes. You have or sympathies and are in our thoughts and prayers. Julie & Rick Pelechek

I am shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Eric. I remember having the Peterson boys in middle school. Eric was so kind and from such a nice family. My prayers are with his family during this extremely difficult time.

"Petey" was and still will be a great mentor in my life. He was always looking for the good in each day and making sure he found it. He was always welcoming to new friends and coworkers. We had a great time working together listening to our generation of rock. I am very sorry for your loss and hope the Lord guides you through this time.

I'm so sorry to hear this. The Peterson family is in our thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for this tragedy. You are all in my prayers.

Condolences to your family Eric.
