Gearty-Delmore - Robbinsdale Chapel - Robbinsdale Obituary

Erik Mitchell John Roche

July 28, 1985 - August 16, 2019

Age 34, of Robbinsdale, MN, passed away on August 16, 2019. Erik grew up in the Edina/Minneapolis area, and graduated from Edina High School and Dunwoody College. He worked as an elevator repairman for Schindler Elevator.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, traveling, and visiting his family cabin in Northern WI.

Words cannot express what an incredibly loving human being he was, who would do anything for his family and friends. He fought an intense battle with cancer in his 20s and bravely survived.

He was preceeded in death by his brother, Shane Roche, and grandmothers Marilyn Anderson and Rita Roche. He is survived by his loving wife of one year, Rachel Roche and their dog, Marengo; his mother, Brenda Roche; his father, John Roche; sister, Shauna Kieffer; brother-in law, Tony Kieffer and their children Annika & Jack; brother Patrick Roche and Sydney Brau; and his grandfathers, Richard Anderson and Bill Roche; along with many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of his family, and dear friends and coworkers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to U of M Children’s Cancer Research Fund. Erik continued to donate to this foundation after his own fight with cancer.

He will be deeply missed.

Not sure what to say?

To John and Brenda,

May his peace that surpasses all understanding embrace you and your family. To his loving wife Rachel may you find comfort during this difficult time. There is nothing one can do or say to make it better but please know you have an army behind you. Do what you need to do for you to heal.

With many prayers and blessings

Our Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Family, Friends, and Associates of Erik M J Roche. May he Rest in Peace

I met Erik in sixth grade at Southview Middle School. We were assigned to sit next to each other, so we got to talk and hang out a lot that year. Erik was always very kind and generous to me. He was my first friend in middle school and that always meant a lot to me. I saw him a few times after we stopped going to school together. Even decades later, he was just as familiar and kind and warm as he always was. I am so grateful to have known him. I am so sorry for your family's loss, and my...

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Roche family. May and I will remember Eriks passion and excitement for the things he enjoyed, which seemed to be everything he did.

His love abounds,
His heart surrounds.

The outdoors, hunting/fishing, his thing,
Heat of summer, cold of winter, fall & spring.

His family was his call,
He included us all.

He was far too young,
To be taken from among.

Our heart aches,
Saddness overtakes...

To Rachel and the Roche family,
We're so sorry to hear of your loss. While working with Erik's dad, I've listened to John talk highly about his son many times. Erik's smile says a lot. He will be missed by many.

John, I am so sorry for the loss of your son. If there is anything I can do, please know that I am there for you.

I am so sorry to hear about Erik. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Thinking of you and sending love to you and your family.

Erik was a great basketball teammate in elementary/middle school ; he was somebody you wanted on your side. He collected a lot of rebounds and played way above his size. The world was a better place with him, and I feel lucky to have known him.
