It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have known Ernie. Alison and I offer our sincerest condolences to Jennifer and Graeme and the rest of the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

"A GENTLEMAN AND A SCHOLAR"-an old saying that typifies my old friend Ernie, who did so much for my rowing in the 50s. He will be sadly missed. Our condolences to Jennifer and family.

I recall Ernie with the deepest affection and respect from the earliest times when I was growing up in Gladesville. I later had the honour to know him as a brother mason. He was a fine man and a great role model. Sincere condolences from John Armfield
