Not sure what to say?

It's weird, I hardly remember being a student in Mr Gunn's English class. He was always respectful and would talk to you as another human being. My best memory of Mr Gunn was during my senior skip day. I actually went into school to hand in an overdue paper for some other teacher's class. I ran in Mr. Gunn in the hall and said hi. Mr. Gunn asked why don't I come with his Junior English class on there field trip that day to Stratford, CT. Cool. Very cool. I got to have a fun day. See good...

This morning 2/21/2020 a quote caught my heart, by JW von Goethe. Holy Cross High School spring 1982 Junior year English w/ Mr Gunn. A gigantic poo brown textbook he hurled at me sitting in front row because I got the sillies couldnt stop giggling with his DRAMATIC Enunciation teaching us how to pronounce Goethe. Literally he threw the book at me. No harm done I deserved it. Clearly he communicated a sincere dedication to TEACHING, both me a lesson and his material. Keep alert. He left a...

I was in Mr. Gunn's 10th grade English class is first year at Holy Cross. Since I was also new Coming from Camden Catholic, Mr. Gunn called me Camden the entire year. He was an excellent teacher and a good mentor. I always enjoyed his humor. Rest In Peace Sir!

Ernie was a wonderful man-warm, generous, unfailingly kind and always ready to help others. His wonderful gift of hospitality at Sacred Heart Church in Camden, NJ will be sorely missed as will his cheerful, intelligent sense of the divine. My son John looked up to him and treasured his advice during difficulties at school. God bless you, Ernie. See you on the "other side".

He never understood what an incredible difference he made in my life and that of many others. I am especially grateful for the last few years of lunches and phone calls. He was a teacher, a father and a friend. I will miss his satiric wit, his kindnesses but mostly "the voice". Whether in the classroom, theatre or on the phone, it was unmistakable; "The rest is silence."

I just was informed of Mr. Gunn's death. He was a wonderful teacher who inspired many, especially his love for Shakespeare. His classes were always the best. Lots of love to his family. With sympathy Dolores LaPenta Pierce HCHS class of ' 71

He touched the lives of so many, so profoundly, so deeply. I don't think he knew that for many years. The angels broke the mold the day he was born! We'll miss you greatly.....

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
if you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give...

How much we'll miss Ernie! He was a long-time member of the Oak Lane Shakespeare Club of which my husband is also a member. And it was always my pleasure to answer the phone when Ernie called on club business. There was always time for a chat about goings-on in the Philadelphia opera community before I had to hand the phone off to my husband. I'll miss those chats, and Ernie's lovely spirit.
