Eugene "Burl" Owens, age 80, of Glenwood, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at his home.

He was born on November 15, 1930 in Hobart, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur Owens and Ada Maddox Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Owens and Brent Douglas Owens; his brother, Kenneth Owens; and his sister, Joyce Harvey.

He was a U. S Navy veteran and had retired as captain with the Oroville Fire Department in Oroville, California.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Owens of Glenwood; 4 children and their spouses, Doug and Missy Owens and Don and Mae Owens of Glenwood, Penny and Stuart Sigfrid of Oroville, California, and Dennis and Leann Owens of Pine Bluff; two step-sons, Scott Hilton and Tim Hilton and his wife, Darlene, all of Glenwood; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Modene Sharp and Jerene Baldwin both of Oroville, California.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 27, 2010 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Dennis Owens and Bro. James Rushing officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Bennett Parker, Dale Hill, Jim Lord, J. O. Richardson, Tommy Bush and Stan Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Tigue, Carl Driggers and Tony Davis.
