Eunice Crawford Obituary

Eunice B. Crawford LEXINGTON Eunice B. Crawford passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at The Church of the Holy Cross Stateburg conducted by The Rev. Scott Fleischer. Eunice Vera Baker Crawford was born on June 21, 1927, in West Columbia, SC, youngest child of the late Henry S. and Willie Mae Mangum Baker. Eunice was a devoted parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church, where on June 4, 1948, she was married to William Allan Crawford, son of the late William Henry Drayton Gaillard and Ruth White Crawford. She served on the Altar Guild and St. Veronica's Biblical Garden Guild. Eunice and Bill enjoyed entertaining at their Lake Murray home where friends and relatives learned to swim and ski, and enjoyed fishing, canoeing and cookouts. Eunice was the most fun loving mother in Murray Forest and enjoyed water skiing and playing sports with her children and their friends. She was admired for her humility; cheerful personality, positive attitude, strength of spirit, kindness, generosity and care for others. She was a gifted seamstress and member of book and antique clubs and the Settlers Club. She attended Columbia Business College and retired from the SC Department of Health and Human Services. She is survived by her children, Robin Campbell (Ted), William Allan Crawford, II, Shaylor Gaillard Crawford (Lynn); sister, Evelyn Johnson and nieces, Skipper Usher, Joy and Jan Black, and nephew, David Mikell (Elaine). She was cherished by grandchildren, Sara Drayton and Blair Campbell, Lauren Crawford, Shaylor Crawford, Jr. and Dallas Thomley. Eunice treasured Martha and Alan Thomley, M.D., their family, and friend, Mila Hurley. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Tara Ruth Crawford, and four siblings. Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC 29205 or Church of the Holy Cross, 335 N. Kings Hwy., Sumter, SC 29154.
