Ideal Funeral Parlor Inc Obituary

Mrs. Evangeline Nowlin McFadden, the oldest daughter of twelve children, was born September 4, 1935 to the late Otis and Vivian Hawkins Nowlin of Effingham, South Carolina. On Friday, September 29, 2017, she departed this life and entered eternal glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Evangeline attended the Public Schools of Florence County - Long Branch Elementary, Brockington High, and Wilson High Schools. She was united in holy matrimony to Ulysses McFadden in 1960 in Florence, SC. The couple relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where she continued her education receiving a Maryland High School Diploma from the Calvert Educational Center. Thereafter, she furthered her educational pursuits in the nursing field. Evangeline also held several jobs throughout her adulthood in cosmetologist and caregiver fields, before being employed for over 25 years with the Elizabeth Cooney Agency as a Private Duty Nurse. She was also a trained volunteer with the American Red Cross. Evangeline accepted her call from the Lord at an early age. She was baptized and joined the Meadow Prong Baptist Church, Effingham, South Carolina, where she was active in Sunday School. Because of her strong Christian roots, Evangeline joined and became an active member of the Gillis Memorial Christian Community Church in Baltimore, Maryland. As a member, she taught Sunday School and served faithfully as a member of the Senior Ushers of Gillis, the South Carolina Club of Gillis, the Flower Circle of Gillis, the We Three Carolina Christians Social Group, and the Pastoral Aide Society. To know her was to know her kind nature, sweet spirit, and eagerness to take care of everyone. She loved supporting and working in her church. She was recognized and awarded certificates for her outstanding participation and service to the Senior Usher Board and the Armor Bearers Class of Gillis. Evangeline was lovingly known as “Boobe” and “Van” by her family and close friends. She was a devoted wife of 57 years, and a caring mother and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. “Van” also developed friendships that lasted forever. It didn’t matter how frequently she saw you; if she was your friend you had a friend for life. In addition to her parents, Evangeline was preceded in death by her daughter, Sophie McFadden-Best; and great-grandson Gabriel Womack. Left to cherish fond and precious memories are: her husband, Ulysses McFadden; her daughter, Patricia McFadden and son, Eric (Gail) McFadden of Baltimore, MD; her 10 grandchildren - India Womack, Patrice Womack, Keisha Butler, Tyrell Mitchell, Dashawn McFadden, Kenny (Antonisha) Butler, Erica McFadden, Crystal Vines, and Terrance Mitchell, all of Baltimore, MD; and Christina (Kevin) Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina; her 19 great grandchildren -Ttajae, Shania, Kordon, Jai’don, A’Dontee, Ryan, McKenzie, Roman, Jarrell, Daisha, Dehvyan, Noah, Preston, Paige, Jonah, Gabriella, Kamora, Shema, and Darius; six sisters: Ruby L.
