Not sure what to say?

I think of you often, Fr Joe. I can still see you and Fr Ron Schneider up there going down the river in Canada, camping, fishing and having a glorious vacation.you are missed by so many who will never forget.

I met Father Joe and his dog Lady when I was just a child. I knew him at St Joes in Big Rapids. We all loved him for his ability to be just like one of us with faults and gifts and all the blessings in between. he will never be forgotten by my entire family. We all have the very best memories of the times we shared at church.

Every Saturday morning ... on Westwood Drive. Coffee hour. Your laugh woke me up, then a disgruntled teen who was trying to sleep in. Over time it became a comfort, and you were an inspiration and mainstay to our whole family. I hope you, Dale, and Kathy are sipping coffee and swapping stories in heaven as he is strumming his guitar. May you all be at peace. Wondering if you might find a venue to send us all a wave of that infectious, bold laugh. The world needs it and will miss it, and you....

Sending sympathies to Fr. Joe's family. He married my husband and me in 1980 and was such a wonderful man. He would be happy to know we're still happily married after almost 41 years.

Fr. Joe led an RCIA group I was a part of, in 73-74, at St. Francis de Sales, in Muskegon. I was just 17 and he took great pains to ensure I felt included. He later presided at my wedding. Having been unchurched prior to this, he was the first face of God I knew...warm, welcoming, full of energy, humor and light. He was a gift to so many. RIP, sir.

I remember clearly at a baptism at St. Paul's, FSC, Fr. Joe holding the baby up above his head saying, "isn't she beautiful!" And the students would respond with a thunderous applause rocking the church. I remember thinking that I never heard such an enthusiastic response at a Catholic Church. He was just so relatable, kind, compassionate, and willing to meet the needs of all Catholics he encountered, regardless of the Church's rules and laws. For that, I will be forever grateful...

He is what many aspire to be.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. We are summer guests during the cottage season.
Fr. Joe, We were so looking forward to seeing you in the next few weeks and have been praying for you.
