Fortuna Funeral Home, Inc. - Independence Obituary

Frances H. Godfrey, (nee Gawloski), beloved wife of George (1985), passed Thursday, November 19 ,2020 at 97 years.

Praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who by His shed blood, purchased our salvation. We come boldly to worship Him, in spirit and truth, for the long life granted to her.

Frances was present at the farewell of her siblings and spouses, Casey, Stella, Jean, Stanley, Frank, Edward, Hattie and Theresa.

Mother and GrandMother to Diane Maslanka, (Ted), Jamie Thompson (Chris), Maguire & Parker. Ted Maslanka (Anne), Mary & Teddy.

Peggy Grabowski (John), Paul, Nate (Kelly), Thomas, Victor (Carly),  Alyssa, Mallori, & Lincoln.

Thankful for years of care given by her nephew Dr. Mike Saridakis. Grateful for loving, kindness and time playing cards with Sandra, Sharon, Judy, Michael and Iris, Frank and Maryann. Loving support from Kathleen, Jeff & Tim, though distant in miles, always kept in touch with her. She loved each and every child of her siblings and their children and their grandchildren, keeping track of their birthdays until the very end.

Frances brought smiles to patients and guests during her 35+ years of volunteering and being a member of the Guild at Marymount Hospital. The years she worked alongside her sister Hattie in the Gift Shop were a treasure to her.

Frances lived independently at St. Rita's for 10+ years. She loved the porch and playing cards with the most wonderful group of friends. Family is so grateful for their love and support. Sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Regina Healthcare for their excellent loving care during her final weeks.

Not sure what to say?

We all will miss you, and Kaleb too!

My Dear Aunt Fran,
I will truly miss you. Whenever I came back into town, you were always first on my list to see. I know you are enjoying being with Uncle George.
Diane and Peggy you are in my prayers.
Love,
Jeff Zielinski and Family

May you find peace knowing she is looking down on all of you. My heartfelt prayers sent to each of you. May God shine down his love and strength as you hold her in your heart.

I had the privilege of meeting Fran at Marymount Hospital. She was one of my volunteers at the front desk one day weekly. Other times I would see her and Hattie across the lobby in the Gift Shop. We had wonderful times together as we served those who came to visit loved ones and those who served on the job there. What a privilege to have had such good memories of both she and her sister Hattie...Loved them both dearly..Thankful for Living Hope we have in Jesus Christ ---

Favorite memories from road trips to renting cottages at Lake Chautauqua and Geneva on the Lake, and we were never so proud of our moms when they hiked to the falls at Watkins Glen in the finger lakes !! We always had to have one night for a junk food dinner. They always chose donuts!!
Allan always included the sisters when he took some of the museum cars to local nursing homes to help the residents have rides in the cars. Once the car they were riding in stalled. My mom and Aunt...
