Frances M. Hamlen EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA Frances M. Hamlen, 79, of East Hanover Township, Lebanon County, and formerly of Easton, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was the wife of Dale A. Hamlen. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 30. Born in Martins Creek, on Christmas Day in 1938, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Sophia Buczek Miechur. Frances was a 1956 graduate of Easton Area High School. For a few years after high school, Fran worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Easton, as well as temporarily helping out at other municipalities when needed. After she got married in 1967, she worked at a bank in Philadelphia until 1968, when she and her husband moved to the Detroit-area in Michigan. Fran and her family moved back to Pennsylvania and eventually settled near Indiantown Gap in 1972. Frances owned and operated a state-certified day-care facility in her home, and was once awarded a plaque for being "Day-Care Provider of the Year for Lebanon County." She was a member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Lebanon. Her interests included gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling, and watching high school and college football, wrestling and soccer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Steven R. Hamlen and his wife, Susan, of Stewartsville, NJ; daughter, Linda J., wife of Anthony Catalano, of Mechanicsburg; step-daughters, Renee M. Hart of Belmar, NJ, and Denise E. Hamlen of Boynton Beach, FL; three grandsons; and four step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Stella Sundy and her husband, George, of Champaign, IL, and Agnes Tobin of West Chester. Fran was the youngest of nine children, four brothers and four sisters. Her father and oldest brother, Leon, were killed in a quarry explosion north of Easton in 1942, when she was three years-old. In addition, her brothers, Joseph, Frank and Thomas, and sisters, Marian and Helen, preceded her in death. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a children's charity. Kreamer and Lum Funeral Home and Crematory, Jonestown, is honored to serve the family. Deepest sympathies to the family. I have very fond memories of Fran when she took care of me as a child and found joy when I would randomly run into her as an adult.

Dale, your classmates from 1953 offer you our deepest sympathy on the loss of your devoted wife, Fran.
