Franklin "Frank" Byrd was born June 29, 1948 in Valliant, OK, the son of Leslie "Bo" Byrd and Katherine (Henson) Byrd and had lived most of his life in the Swink area. His parents preceded him in death. He married Betty McClanahan on June 28, 1968 in Ft. Towson. Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Towson, Ft. Towson Masonic Lodge #303, and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 178. He was a Friction Crane Operator – NCCO Certified and North American Certified working all over the United States and also out of the country. He had also served with the Oklahoma National Guard. Frank was a hard worker, loved fishing and hunting and taking care of his cattle. SURVIVORS INCLUDE: his wife, Betty Byrd; two sons, Russell Franklin Byrd and wife, Kerri of Muskogee and Rodney Lance Byrd and wife Crystal of Fort Towson; two brothers, Lesley Ray Byrd and Palmer Lee Byrd, both of Valliant; grandchildren, Caitlyn Byrd, Coy Byrd, Aaron Byrd, Lance Byrd, and Judith Byrd along with many other relatives and friends. Frank Byrd was my best friend he always told me when i was young , boy you don't no it yet but I'm your best friend and always have been! Man was he right about that one. Just want people to know how much i miss him , everyday that comes and goes , he is always in my thoughts and prayers.
