Monarch Society Obituary

On Monday September 23rd, 2019, Frank Edwin Israel passed away in Denver Colorado, after receiving a heart transplant. Frank was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on January 22, 1960 to Frans and Edwine “Winnie” (Tjaden) Israel.

Frank and his parents immigrated to the United States when Frank was 3 months old. They settled in Pasadena California moving a few years later to Glendora CA, where Frank spent his school years. In school he was an outstanding soccer player carrying a love for the game through the rest of his life. Frank lived in Southern California as well as Oregon where he operated various landscape design and construction companies. Frank loved the outdoors and was an accomplished landscape photographer and observer of the natural world. His wit, writing and photos continually amazed and inspired his friends and family.

Frank is survived by many loving relatives; wife Mande May, ex-wife Denise Israel, daughters Cheyenne Hewett and Savanah Israel, stepdaughter Hailey Bonebrake, son-in-law Chris Hewett, grandchildren Weston, Isabel, Aubrey and Camden. Sister Joanie Cleveland and brother-in-law Geoff Cleveland and their children Zach, Taylor, Torrey, Tyler and Tobie. Frank is also survived by his beloved mother Edwine “Winnie” Israel and was preceded in death by his loving father Frans Willem Israel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the ONDA, Oregon Natural Desert Association . Frank had been involved with ONDA over the years, both as a member and volunteer.

We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Colorado Acute Care of Denver for their compassion and professionalism.

A lovely man. I miss him.

I knew Frank through my cousin, Mande May and Facebook. I loved how he shared his health journey with us and wrote back when we commented. And yes, his pictures were superb! But best was the man he was in life and now in our hearts as an inspiration for all caring humans. An honor to know him even in a small condolences to you all.

A bright, funny and most of all a loving man who impacted everybody he met
