Frank William Moberg was born October 1, 1914 in Clinton, MN to John T. and Amanda (Olson) Moberg. He was born in a house built from scrap lumber from a tornado in 1903. Frank grew up in Clinton and as a child, watched two cows graze, milked them, and delivered quarts of milk in the area. Clinton had a public water tank where the cows would get their water. The barn is still standing, but leaning and has been converted to a garage. Frank graduated from Clinton High School in 1932. Following high school, Frank spent three years in the National Guard. During that time he attended Minneapolis Business College for a time and later worked in Warren, MN. Frank was united in marriage with Elizabeth O'Hara in Moorhead, MN. They met when Frank had his appendix removed at the hospital. Frank and Beth moved to Clinton where he started Red Owl grocery and department store with his brother. He later started farming and continued until he semi-retired in 1973. Frank and Beth spent winters in Arizona for a time and in 2010 moved to Grace Village in Graceville. While receiving care, Frank would mention to many people, "You know I am 98!" Frank was very active in the community. He served on the Clinton School Board for two terms, Federal Land Bank Board, as well as the Elim Church Board. He served as a Big Stone County Commissioner for ten years where he served on the Odessa Fire Board, Clinton Good Samaritan Board and Development Board in Clinton. Frank was very conservative and non-wasteful, but very generous with his time and his family. He enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games, watching Minnesota Twins baseball as well as Clinton area sports. In his early years he enjoyed fishing and trapping as a part-time job during the winters. Frank enjoyed giving free haircuts in the area. Frank is survived by three sons: John (Candy) of Sauk Centre, MN; William "Bill" of Clinton, MN; Thomas (Sheila) of Gallatin, TN; ten grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; one brother Iver (Leota) of Clinton, MN; and his son-in-law, John VanLith of Milbank, SD.
