Freda Miller Obituary

Native Midland Resident, Freda Lou Prince Miller went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 29, 2015. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church at 1:00 pm on Monday February 2, 2015 officiated by David Johnson. A special tribute by Dean Rippetoe. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday February 1, 2015 at Ellis Funeral Home. She was born Freda Lou Truelove in Midland, Texas on December 29, 1926 to W. Fred and Laudie May Truelove and spent her entire life in Midland. She graduated from Midland High School in 1944 and went to work for the telephone company, learning how to operate a switchboard. In 1947 she met Jim Prince, a player for the Midland Indian Baseball Club. The two were married in October 1948. They were blessed with 2 sons, Mike and Randy. In 1951, Freda started a 35-year career with Shell Oil-Pipeline as Chief telephone operator for their 600+ employees. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church and was very active in her church, the Downtown Lady Lions Club and several Senior Dance Clubs. She served on the board of Shell Oil Federal Credit Union and other civic clubs throughout her years. During her lifetime, Freda was a pillar of strength to her family and friends. Her faith in the Lord and belief in the power of prayer was unwavering. She never failed to provide comfort and hope to the many that crossed her path with special needs. Her vibrant smile and gentle laughter was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. She loved bowling, dancing, and giving wedding and baby showers. She was affectionately known to family and friends as "Freda the Flasher" because no matter how large or small the event, she was always snapping pictures of everyone. She is survived by two sons, Mike Prince and wife Pam and Randy Prince and wife Cherl, all of Midland and her special niece and daughter by proxy, Lou Anne Conder, Lubbock. She was blessed with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Laudie Mae Truelove, her husband of 43 years, James T. Prince and her husband of 12 years Gilbert E Miller. Her sister, Willard Lurlene and husband Henry Conder, her brother, Dozier and wife Zellie Truelove and her brother, Dell and wife Doris Truelove all of Midland. Pall bearers will be her nephews Curtis Miller, David Miller, Carmen Campagna, Kelly Sherman, Brandon Hill, Danny Truelove, Honorary Pall bearers will be Red Conder, Darrell Beavers, Sam Brown, Bob Hopkins, Bill Green and Holt Cowden. Her family wishes to thank all of her friends for their prayers and loving support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Midland and the Downtown Lions Club.
