St. Patrick's Day broadcast on WJCU isn't the same without you. You are missed. -Rob Kihlstrom

Just thought of Uncle Fred today listening to Pierce Pettis' song "A Mountaineer is Always Free," which I believe Uncle Fred included on his last show for WJCU and played often. A wonderful song and a wonderful man. Miss you Uncle Fred! You taught me a lot and are responsible for a healthy portion of my CD collection and my two daughters' CD's too! We will not forget you!

I'll miss Fred. I wish I had lived closer so I could have spent more time with you and Fred. I enjoyed the dinners we spent on the deck, and I loved the CDs he sent me at Christmas. My thoughts are with you.

Tuning in to Visiting the Folks was a Sunday night ritual for Steve and me at home in Austin TX ever since streaming became available. After having discovered the show during a trip to Cleveland, we listened and spoke with Fred often about the music we all loved. We finally met him when he invited me to be a guest host last summer. Not only did we share his taste in music (for the most part), we admired his soft-spoken manner, dedication, and knowledge of folk, Americana, and Celtic music....

Saddened to hear this news! My condolences to his family and friends for this tragic loss. Former JCU student and WJCU DJ who hasn't missed a year tuning in to the St. Patrick's Day marathon. Warm wishes to you all, may you find comfort in this difficult time.

Jill. Sorry to hear about UnclevFred. Will be missed. He fought a good fight.

Jill, I am so sorry to hear that "Uncle Fred" had passed away.
St. Patrick's Day will never be the same... My prayers are with you and the family.
