To Karen and the Beatty Family,
I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I met Maxine in 1978 at Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin, VA. She and I remained best friends. I already miss her so much, but I know that she is better off now. There was nobody like "My Max".

To Maxine's Family: I apologize for my lateness in writing this. Maxine was an acquaintance of mine at the college. I have never known her to be anything less than supportive and optimistic regardless of the circumstances. I didn't see her very often when the new campus opened, as we worked at different sites. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my "second mom" and "Me-Maw" (as my daughter calls her). The life she lived will forever be internalized in the hearts of so many, but especially mine. Her impact upon my life has made me the woman that I am today. And I will forever be greatful God for allowing me to have a vision of His love through her life.
