Gary Don Speed

Gary Don Speed, 73 of Steens, MS passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, at his residence. 

A family graveside service will be Sunday, April 26, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Bro. Al Hamm officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.  Friends may view the service online at www.lowndesfuneralhome.net the next day.

Mr. Speed was born November 23, 1946, to the late Porter and Mildred Charlene Cline Speed in Columbus, MS and lived in Lowndes County his entire life.  Mr. Speed attended Victory Freewill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  He was a self-employed draftsman for over 40 years and enjoyed hunting.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Speed was preceded in death by his wife Lexie Speed; brother – Larry Speed, and sister Charlotte Eaves.

Mr. Speed is survived by his daughters – Amanda (Eileen) Speed, Seattle, WA and Molly (Carlos) Arcia, Tampa, FL; step-children – Shannon (Tiffany) Wright and Jason Wright, both of Caledonia, MS; brother – Harold Speed, Columbus, MS; 8 grandchildren – Andrea Arcia, Stella Speed-Petralia, Hannah Morgan, Gage Hamburg, Noah Wright, Lanie Wright, Brody Wright, and Drew Wright.

Pallbearers will be Jason Wright, Shannon Wright, Mitchell Speed, Paul DuBois, Ricky Eaves, and Carlos Arcia. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Speed.
