Gene A. Fodge

I was priveledged to meet and speak to this gentleman a few times at the Cove .
I have passed on his info to baseball-reference.com .

My deepest sympathys to genes family.in which I knew and work with all his daughters.they always talked so highly of him.I met him several times and he always had a kind word to say to me and my son.he will b greatly missed.the bond the girls had with their dad was inspiring and greatly respected.glad he's not suffering.he left nothing but great memories and my heart goes out to entire family.I will keep you all in my prayers.

Many,many years ago as a teenager I worked with Gene at the Butcher Block. We would enjoy talking about the Cubs and life. I had a lot of respect for him. I am sorry for your loss.

I've never been so privileged to be the neighbor of a finer and more humble man.
Gene was a very kind man who would do anything for those he knew, and
for those he did not know. He was gifted by God with a strong pitching
arm and a heart of gold. His reliance on a Higher Power helped me to
persevere when I had given up on myself, and for that I will be forever
grateful.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Fodge family.

As a teammate and friend in the South Bend junior leagues and American Legion baseball I remember Gene well. I was a catcher in the junior leagues and caught
Gene often. I will never forget the day while playing softball in the South Bend softball league, when I saw Gene sitting on the sidelines and foun out that I had just struck out his son in a game. I have many wonderful memories of Gene and his mother who worked at Memorial Hospital, and our many conversations about Gene with...

I played basketball against Gene in the 1950 sectional tourney. I played for Walketon, as I remember it the Central Bears were ranked no. 1 in the state. I also followed him in his baseball career. May God be with Gene and his family.
