Gene Wagner, Jr.

Evansville - Gene "Wago" Wagner, Jr., 78, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born August 1, 1941 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Helen (Gibbler) and Gene E. Wagner, Sr.

Gene was a Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1967-1969 and achieving the rank of Sergeant E5. He worked for Bekins Van Lines in Glen Ellen, IL and was the Assistant VP of Pricing for Atlas World Group. Gene was a member of the Rolling Thunder chapters in Indiana and Kentucky. He was an avid golfer and a gun enthusiast and was a voracious reader.

Gene is survived by his wife, Beth Jonap; sons, Thomas F. (Dodie) Wagner of Newburgh, IN, Michael P. (Jennifer) Wagner of Henderson, KY, and Ronald R. (Andrea) Wagner of Columbus, IN; step-daughter, Chris (Ken) Duffield of Grafton, OH; grandchildren, Avery, Saylor, Elliana, Ariella and Sylvester Wagner.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. The family requests that family and friends attending please wear brightly colored clothes and be prepared to share your favorite memory in celebration of Gene's life.
