I didn't know George Fischer but he left us a wonderful gift. His daughter, Jean, is a blessing to our family and a credit to her parents.

My brother George was a natural teacher.

I recall that when I was young he thought me many things, but the most valuable was to be inquisitive: find out how it works. That served me well through my life.

Smaller memories are of him teaching me to tie knots (from his Boy Scout knot board), using a camera, and how to operate a carbide lantern (which he used while spelunking.

George was one of the most upbeat and positive people I have ever met. His enthusiasm was infectious. Carol he will be greatly missed. My prayers to all of you.

Dear Fischers, I am so sorry to read about your dad's passing. I remember him fondly (and still turn off the radio whenever I shut off the car, to save the battery -- his advice, I believe). I just happened to make a rare visit to the Tri-Town Transcript online and saw the obituary. My best to all of you, Mary Flaherty-Lee, formerly of Topsfield, now in Albany, CA.
