JONESBORO - George D. Johnson, 79, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2025, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born Aug. 27, 1946, in Jonesboro, to the late John Lofton and Sharley Johnson. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his stepson, Eddie Dale, and siblings Bobby and Johnny Johnson.
Raised in the Cash community, George proudly continued his family's farming legacy before beginning a long and fulfilling career with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department, where he later retired. He was devoted to his community, often volunteering and attending Exchange Club lunches on Fridays.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Frieda Johnson; daughter, Stephanie Maloney (Michael); grandchildren, Kennedy Grace Maloney (Kile Harvey), Dr. Thomas Michael Maloney (Emily), and Peyton Dale Jones (Duncan); and great-granddaughter, Savannah James Maloney.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Bernard's, Quail Run Health and Rehab, and the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care.
