Father George O. Rink

My parents first met Fr. George Rink when he was a seminarian in the 1950s. They got acquainted when Fr. George´s twin brother Doc worked for my dad at his Richfield gas station in Tacoma. As a new convert to the Catholic Church, Dad was fascinated by this young seminarian´s sense of humor and was eager to attend his ordination. The Rink and Cughan families stayed connected for decades through their faith, godchildren, and weddings. When Dad passed away, Fr. Rink celebrated his funeral mass...

We were never in Father George's parishes, but he helped out at St. Theresa's in Federal Way which is where we got to know him. He officiated when we renewed our vows in 2008. We loved him and enjoyed his funeral celebration today.

My parents gave me a daily missal for my confirmation at St. Pat's on May 12, 1957. Six days later Fr. George was ordained and he visited our school. I still have the commemorative holy card of his ordination in my missal. He was a good and faithful servant and lived his vocation to the fullest. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to the family and all his friends. Fr. Rink was a blessing to me always very kind and shone with the light of Christ. I knew him in his retirement as he was always helping out at St. Andrews in Sumner, and Saints Cosmas and Damian in Orting, truly a blessing to all the faithful.
