Similar to Shirley's recent passing, I only know Mr "Jerry" Betts through his son Jim, who is a dear friend of mine. Jim often referenced his Dad in conversation, alway with respect and admiration. This speaks to the character of the man, which Jerry passed on to his sons. My impression of him is that he sincerely loved is family and was forever in love with and protective of his wife Shirley. Jerry was such an important part of our family and we feel his loss deeply. He was always interested in what every one was doing, asked lots of questions about everything, and showed up for every family event. He was a true gentleman and his unique voice will remain in my heart.

I met Mr. Betts when I helped deliver The Acorn newsletter for our neighborhood. He was always friendly and kind. So sorry to hear of his passing. He was such a good neighbor and they don't make them like that anymore.

Well Dad,
I hope you are getting in at least 18 holes of golf every day now, while Mom is playing bridge.
You both are dearly missed by the entire family, but we are all greatly relieved that neither of you are no longer in pain and suffering.
I have to say that I have never known a person who has been as strong as you, and fought as much as you have, following your stroke. Most people would have given up a long time ago. That is an inspiration to all of us!
