Dear Stefan and Lisa, I find myself grabbing the phone to call your mom and feeling the slap of reality. It is so hard not to plan getting together which we tried to do at least once a week. Calling each other almost every day. She was such an unselfish and caring person. A jewel of a friend. She always joked about her philosophy: enjoy life, housework can wait. She touched so many lives and gave herself unconditionally. Took critics and opinionated people as a joke - and full of grace, respected their views. However behind all that she was a very sensitive person and never could understand other's lack of it. Can't think of her without her witticisms, her smile and positive attitude.

Dear Lisa and Stefan - I will always remember your mother as a very special person. I spent a lot of time getting to know her when Irene was placed under conservatorship. Since I was the conservator I had the pleasure to get to know your mother well. She was a very kind hearted person . I was just thinking about calling her when I saw the obit. I will always have happy memories of her and her singing group. When there is a memorial services, I would very much like to attend. I will have a glass of wine and say a toast in honor of your Mom.

Dear Stefan and Lisa,
I was saddened by the passing of Gerda. She was a very special friend and co-worker. I used to live in Germany and she would always enjoy helping me with my German. I can hear her voice as I write this and the photo in the newspaper perfectly captured her as I remember her. She had a special way of saying my name and she always wore bright lipstick and ate beets daily in our employee dining room. I thought that was a very German thing and we used to laugh about it.
I had no idea that she was a pianist and wished that I could have heard her play.
I remember how proud she was when she bought her house in Seaside.
With kind thoughts from Margaret Leighton

Dear Stefan and Lisa,
I am so sorry about the passing of your Mother. I always thought she was a kind, beautiful, smart lady. I will always remember her as our good neighbor who was an amazing Mom. May memories of her always bring smiles to you both. Much Love, The Garneau Family, Peter, Diane, Greg and Brian
