Gertrude Evans Poston, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at her home in Marion, VA.
Mrs. Poston was born in Smyth County, VA, to the late G.G. and Nannie Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Poston; son, Vincent Poston; daughter, Angela Poston; sisters, Virginia Poston and Edna Hutton; and brothers, Charles Evans, Ernest Evans, and Archie Evans.
She is survived by her daughters, Toby Poston and Gina Schultz; sister, Charity Blevins; grandchildren, Jeffery Evans, Jr. and wife Brooke of Martinsville, Amanda Savage of Martinsville, Zachary Poston and wife Beverly of Abingdon, and Austin Preston of Marion; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Daniel, Aubrey, Amelia, Ava, and Hazley; and a special niece, Wanda Poston.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Caris Health Care, Care Advantage, of Abingdon and especially Mandy for the love and compassionate care given during this time.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Walker’s Creek Community Cemetery with Pastor Henry Thomas officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services.
