Gilbert R. Bates

Gilbert R. Bates of Rigby died Dec. 19, 2008, at the age of 83. He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Marguerite; his two daughters, Merralyn (Roger) Pearson and Pauline (Rick) Robison; his five grandchildren, Bret Pearson, Jody Aslett, Steve Pearson, Brian Herndon and Teri Perez; and his seven great grandchildren, Bodi, Haydin, Driztin, Tasia, Marisa, Gabi and Ashelyn.
He and his family lived in West Yellowstone, Mont. for about 38 years before moving back to Rigby, where he started his life. While in West Yellowstone he worked in gas stations, in the school as a janitor/cook and finally at the Forest Service for about 27 years. He retired in 1985. He loved fishing, hunting, motorcycling and snowmobiling. His life revolved around his family, and he had a happy life filled with love.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
