Gladys Creola Meacham, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 18, 2025, at her home in Forest Park, Georgia, at the age of 94. She was born on September 24, 1930, in Hamilton, Alabama, daughter of the late Marvin and Maude Whitehead Young.

Gladys was a JC Penney retiree after 17 years of service. Loved ones will remember Gladys for her love of Jesus, her family, and her many friends and fellow church members. She was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Morrow.

Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband, William Allen Bourland, in 1986, followed by their son, William Michael Bourland, in 2005, and their daughter, Carole Louise Bourland Matz, in 2022.

In 1990, Gladys married Rev. William "Bill" Thomas. They were active at Ash Street Baptist Church, where Bill was on the staff until he died in 2002.

In 2009, Gladys married Wallace Edward Meacham, Jr., who died in 2019. They were members of First Baptist Church of Forest Park.

Gladys is also preceded in death by her five siblings: Sue Young Callahan, Fred Grady Young, Foy Wesley Young, William Hoyt Young, and Burlodean Young. Gladys is survived by her devoted granddaughter, Carolyn Crist (Drew Hauke), and loving nephew Sam Callahan.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 21, at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, 6362 S. Lee St., Morrow, GA. Following the service, she will be buried at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
