Gloria LaNasa Raspanti

1926 - 2024

Gloria LaNasa Raspanti, born December 10, 1926, went to her heavenly Father on June 5, 2024. Aged 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio V. LaNasa and Marietta Marasa LaNasa; her husband, Joseph M. Raspanti; her sisters, Marie LaNasa and Pauline Fransen; her two brothers, Dr. Marion LaNasa and Dr. Philip LaNasa; and her grandson, Daniel Cantrell (Cynthia). She is survived by her four children, Ilene Cantrell (Gus), Janine Raspanti, Roy Raspanti, and Joe Raspanti (Donna); her grandchildren, Philip Raspanti (Kristin) and Michael Raspanti (Casey); and her great-grandchildren, Zachary Cantrell, Kyle Cantrell, Kane Raspanti, Josephine Raspanti, Miles Raspanti, and Marcelle Raspanti. A lifelong resident of New Orleans and the youngest of five children born to Sicilian immigrants. She became a culinary savant from their tutelage. Besides acquiring her beauty from her parents, she also learned from them a powerful dedication and love of family. Her soulmate of 56 years, Joe Raspanti, and their descendants were everything to her. She embodied love, faith, strength, and loyalty (she played Canasta with the same group of ladies for over 70 years). She was the matriarch of her own and her siblings' children. Aunt Gloria, or GG, will always be remembered as a role model for all who were blessed to have known her.

A funeral Mass will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA at noon on Thursday, June 13, 2024 with the visitation preceding it from 10:00 am until noon.
