Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary



Gloria Marie Wellman, 85 of Bradenton, Florida passed peacefully under Hospice care with friends and family by her side on June 22, 2016 after a year-long battle with Alzheimer’s.



 



A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 9, 2016 in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home, 1317 9th St. Wichita Falls, Texas, with her Pastor –Teacher, Herman Maddox of Spring Valley Bible Church in Dallas officiating.



Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, Texas, under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.



 



Gloria was born to James T. and Opal (Vernon) Wellman in Graham, Texas on October 9, 1930. She grew up in the Wichita Falls area and graduated from Lubbock High School and later attended Texas Tech and Midwestern State Universities, majoring in Art.



 



 Gloria was a loving mother, sister, counselor, bible teacher, and her spirit touched all who knew her. She was involved in Young Life Ministries in Wichita Falls and led many to Christ in her lifetime. She attended the First Methodist Church and Grace Church  in Wichita Falls and the First Baptist Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she lived for 38 years. Gloria was a prolific and acclaimed artist, and sold several of her oil paintings in Santa Fe. She spent the last year of her life in Bradenton, Florida.



 



 Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Seabury; sister, Billie Robinson; and brother, James “Dutch” Wellman.



 



 She is survived by a son, Steve Seabury of Bradenton, Florida; daughter, Sandy Seabury Mahoney of Stockton, California; two sisters, Donna Taigen and husband F.K. “Skeet” Taigen, and Beverly Ryan of Wichita Falls.



 



In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to Tidewell Hospice (tidewellhospice.org) or Young Life of Wichita Falls, 3406 Buchanan St, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
