Gordon Lee Saunders Gordon Lee Saunders, 87, of Aylor, Madison County passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013, in Autumn Care of Madison. Born November 25, 1925, in Emporia, Va., he was the son of the late Martie Williams Brown and the foster son of Charles Grover and Cora E. Aylor. At the age of seven, he came from the Methodist Home in Richmond to spend the summer with the Aylors. It was such a good situation he spent the rest of his life there. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Aylor, Madison Young Farmers and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Gordon served in the United States Army from April 3, 1944, until May 7, 194,6 with the 66 Division, mainly in France and Germany. He is survived by his sister, Doris Aylor Judy and husband, Don; a nephew, Donald Gordon Judy; and many relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Aylor with the interment at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Church Cemetery fund, 100 Beamers Head Road, Madison, VA 22727. The family wishes to thank everyone who has been so supportive in our time of grief and may God bless. Preddy Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
