Taft, Gordon N. age 85, died Dec. 4, 2006 after a long illness. Born in Centerville, SD. Preceded in death by parents, Ole and Anna; and sister, Laeone Schmitz. Survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Charles (Rebekah), Barry (Susan) and Paul; grandchildren, Stephanie and Leslie Taft, Jessica (Jeff) Miller, Jason, David and Amber Taft; great-granddaughter, Ashley Miller; sister, Adelaide Axelson; nephews, John and Eric Axelson, and William Schmitz; niece, Lisa Schmitz. A graduate of St. Olaf College, he also studied at the U of M. Gordon spent 22 years in the Marine Corps Reserves, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict and retired as a Lt. Col. He retired after 32 years of service at Lutheran Brotherhood/ Thrivent as Vice President. Funeral service Friday 2:00 PM, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S. Private interment Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
