Taft, Gordon N. age 85, died Dec. 4, 2006 after a long illness. Born in Centerville, SD. Preceded in death by parents, Ole and Anna; and sister, Laeone Schmitz. Survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Charles (Rebekah), Barry (Susan) and Paul; grandchildren, Stephanie and Leslie Taft, Jessica (Jeff) Miller, Jason, David and Amber Taft; great-granddaughter, Ashley Miller; sister, Adelaide Axelson; nephews, John and Eric Axelson, and William Schmitz; niece, Lisa Schmitz. A graduate of St. Olaf College, he also studied at the U of M. Gordon spent 22 years in the Marine Corps Reserves, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict and retired as a Lt. Col. He retired after 32 years of service at Lutheran Brotherhood/ Thrivent as Vice President. Funeral service Friday 2:00 PM, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S. Private interment Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Bridgebuilders, the Benson Scholarship Fund-St. Olaf College or donor's choice. GILL BROTHERS 612-861-6088
