Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Gregory Laythe Anderson, 63, of Wilmington, N.C. died on February 5 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1951 in Richland, Washington and lived at various times in California, Illinois, Michigan, and North Carolina. He graduated from American International High School in New Delhi, India in 1969. He later served in the United States Coast Guard, worked at General Electric in San Jose, Calif., and, in his final working years, drove a taxi cab in Wilmington.
He loved golfing and was good enough at it to hold a career perfect record when playing against his sons. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants, a lover of music, good food, his grandchildren, and perhaps most of all, talking about those things or anything else with friends and strangers alike.
He is survived by son James Anderson and wife Ashley and grandchildren Lily and Jacob of Gloucester, Va., son Gordon Anderson and wife Jordan of Sanford, N.C., sister Kimberly Raphael and husband Kent of Wichita, Kansas, and aunt Shirlene Jones and uncle Bob Jones of Grandview, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 28 with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gregory?s memory to the charity of one?s choice.

Cousin Kim,
Our hearts go out to you on losing both of your parents and your only sibling in such a short time. We also are very sad for James and Gordy, as well as Lily and Jacob, in their great loss. We're sending a picture from Dec. 12, 2012, when we had a wonderful visit with Jim, Betty and Greg at Shirlene's home. We all marveled at the wonder of grandchildren, as we, like Greg, had recently become grandparents! At times like this it would be easier if we weren't living on...

Kim, So sorry for your loss. Ginny Ann

Sending all of you our love and support...
