Gretchen B. Swartwout

Gretchen B. Swartwout, 78, died Saturday, October 14, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Charles Swartwout; her children, David Swartwout, Kay Poukey, Bill Swartwout and Martha Stehlik; her eleven grandchildren and her sisters, Gertrude Mayne and Beth Brumback. Gretchen was born in Cleveland, Ohio January 9, 1928. She attended Chagrin Falls High School and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. She married "Chuck" June 15, 1952. They moved to Scottsdale in 1960 and were active at Scottsdale United Methodist Church. In 1984, they moved to Sedona. Gretchen lived vibrantly up to the last moment. She had just visited all of her grandchildren, opened her home to old friends and baked an apple pie with apples she plucked off the trees herself. She is in glory now with her Lord, and will be remembered for seeing the best in everyone and serving others with her whole heart. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at The Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Drive, Sedona.
