Gwendolyn Lloyd Monroe, age 61 was born on May 4, 1959 in New Orleans, LA departed this earthly home on Saturday, April 3, 2021. She was a graduate of St. Mary AMC and Delta College. She was a retired nurse and dietary cook. She also was a member of First Evangelist M.B.C. and sung in various choirs all of her life. Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Mrs. Carolyn Lloyd Collins and Mr. James Jake Williams. Loving mother of St. Jude Jamal Lloyd, Terry Lamont Lloyd and Daniel Ellis Lloyd. Mother-in-law of Danielle M. Lloyd. Sister of Robert Earl Collins, Elnora Sumler, Catherine L. Johnson and Jacquelyn Gordon. Sister-in-law of Kathy Rollins and Bobby Gordon. Aunt of Latonya, Gwynne, LaShawndra, Bernard and Robert Noble. Friends, Sha, Bobby, Trash, Chereal, Rose her best friend Jesus. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by 1 brother, Sidney Collins, Jr.; 2 brothers-in-law, Warren Johnson and Lester Sumler and 1 nephew, Calvin Noble. Due to city regulations, only a number of relatives, friends, and members of First Evangelist M.B.C. are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at First Evangelist Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Willow Street at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Rev. Reginald A. Landry, Pastor Officiating. Private Burial. Due to COVID-19 all those in attendance are required to wear a face mask and to practice social distancing.
