My condolences to the entire Kirk family. I met Lee in 1978 in Davidson, NC when he was on his summer ski tour. I filmed his runs with my Super 8mm camera, I was so inspired by Lee that I studied that film and taught myself to barefoot. What he could do on water was amazing. I even bought a SkiWarm wetsuit just like Lee's. For the last 30+ years I have always told everyone that Lee was my inspiration to barefoot. I was just recounting that inspiration to someone and couldn't remember Lee's...

Sorry to hear about Lee's passing. Emerson Kirk and my father, Ken Kirk, are 1st cousins. I was going through some old paperwork on Monday and found a 1978 Splash Magazine that had been given to my grandparents, George & Blanche Kirk. The magazine had featured Lee and his barefoot waterskiing. Today, when I did an internet search on Lee, I came accross his obtiuary. We are so sorry for your loss and are praying the family.
