WILLIAM J. BURKE SONS/BUSSING CUNNIFF FH - SARATOGA SPRINGS Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Harold H. Bennett Jr., 98, of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021 with his loving wife by his side.

Born on October 24, 1922 in Keansburg, NJ, he was the son of his late father and mother, Harold Bennett Sr. and Edith Van Scoick Bennett.  He was predeceased by his sister, Edith Audrey Dunn and his brother, Walter Bennett.

After graduating from high school, Harold went to Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy before enlisting in the United States Navy during WWII where he became a lieutenant in charge of navigation and gunnery.  Harold has always had tremendous pride and respect for those that service our country and for the lives’ that have been lost protecting our nation.  A cherished memory was his Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. with his son.

After the war, Harold was blessed to marry the love of his life, Frances.  Together they started a family and a real estate appraisal company that Harold grew until retirement.

Harold enjoyed boating, flying, family and friends.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend who saw the world in need of smiles, laughter and kindness and he always delivered.

Harold is survived by his adoring wife, Frances; his daughter, Linda McAllister and son in law, David; his son, Harold H. Bennett III and daughter in law, Paula; and special nieces.

Our family would like to share our gratitude to Harold’s extended family at the Home of the Good Shepherd, 400 Church St. Saratoga Springs, NY for their wonderful care and love they have given Harold through the years.

Services will be private.  Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Harold would wish that you reach out to someone to make their day brighter.

Not sure what to say?

Great Day

Frances, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful husband; I always loved seeing the two of you come into Dr. Finger's office and I always gave him a kiss on the top of his head albeit not without complaint but I still loved to do it. I have missed having both of you coming in, you were always one of the brightest lights

Mr Bennett holds a very special place in my heart. Much love to all of you—

Harold I was glad to have had the opportunity to know and see you almost every day @Home of Good Shepherd .. your charm and sense of humor will surely be missed... I also would like to thank you for your service in the U S Navy...may you RIP..

Thank you for your service to our country.

Rest In Peace.

My Dearest Linda and Family: I am so sorry for the loss of your father Harold. I know how devastating and painful this is for all of you, especially after the recent loss of my beloved Mother Zoe. I loved him dearly, and he and your Mom were so good to my Mom during their time together at The Home of the Good Shepherd. Your dad was so strong and proud, and had such a quick wit. and he ALWAYS made me laugh!! He adored your Mom, and it was so precious to see them together. I loved visiting...
