Harriet Glenola Ackerman

Harriett Glenola Ackerman, 91, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, WA. Harriett was born, the sixth child of seven, on January 19, 1918 to parents Harry G. and Nellie A. (Musgrave) Steiner in Emerson, Iowa. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, James R. and Emma C. Musgrave. While Harriett successfully worked for many years as a nursing assistant, it was being a home-maker and caring for her family that was her true passion. Her positive and endearing outlook on life inspired those around her and will be missed by all. Harriett contributed and belonged to many organizations, but most notably, her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided her with spiritual guidance and life-long friendships that she cherished most. Harriett is survived by her daughter, Judy K. (Peter) Schenk, Kennewick; grand children Peter J.(Chinatsu) Schenk and Suzanne E.(Ricardo) Torres; great-grandchildren, Connor, Claire, and Cole Torres; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert T. Ackerman; parents, Harry and Nellie Steiner; son, James Robert Ackerman; five sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Center, 9353 W. Clearwater Avenue, Kennewick. There will also be a graveside inurnment at Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa on November 14, 2009 at 11:00 am.
