I remember Doctor Boren from a ancient history course in 1984. He is why I pursued a Bachelors in History at UNC. My condolences to his family. He will be remembered by his students, as well as his family.

I was Henry's first Ph.D. (1972) and have many fond memories of the repeated assistance he gave me from 1965 on, and of cookouts at the Borens' home. He and Martha came to my wedding (1969) and we stayed in touch over the years when I was on the faculty at Western Illinois. My best wishes to the family.

We were so lucky to have Henry and Martha as neighbors for almost 30 years. Henry taught us what a good neighbor was, delighting in our children, sharing fresh vegetables from his garden and always ready to stop and have a chat. His love of Martha and his family was ever present. My prayers are with you.
