Herbert Dahmer Obituary
Herbert was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy as well as his sister Kay Spetalnik. He is survived by his loving sons John, Robert and his wife Laura, Glenn, Mark and his wife Dawn, his adoring grandchildren Katie, Sam, Jennifer, Robert, Matthew, Peter, Jessica, Stephanie, Markie, and Daniel. He is also survived by his sisters Florence Schnegelberger, Johanna Ballman, and Ruth Campleman, and his brother Arthur.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 5 from 1-5 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union. Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Springfield on Monday August 6 at 10AM with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Herbert's name may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa FL 33607

Sorry I am so late to this sad forum. Let's face it, unless I missed something over those 20 or so years--that was one outstanding human being--who always had a kind word to me seemingly in between his endless working around the house or church. My belated condolences.

I was saddened to learn of Herb's passing. Herb touched many lives. He was a very kind, generous and loving man whose example influenced many of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer here physically, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his family. Cherish your memories and know that both he and Dot are right there beside you. Take comfort in those around you, and may God's white light surround you with love to help you get through this difficult time.

Sheldon Johannessen is deeply saddened by the loss of a great friend and partner and both Susan and Sheldon have been so honored to have been in the company of such a special person and family man. He already is greatly missed. We wish his family continued closeness and love.

John,Bob, Glen and Mark,
Please realize how blessed and lucky you have been to have had such a great father. Treasure the many memories that he gave to you and your families. That is something no one can take away from you. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was always my favorite uncle. He always had a smile on his face and a joke or story ready to tell.
Whenever one of the Philadelphia sports teams was playing the Giants, Devils or Yankees, I knew I would be getting a phone call. He will be truly missed by so many family members and friends. I know I will miss my phone calls from him, his laugh and the twinkle in his eye. The world could use more people like Uncle Herb. Unfortunately, heaven must have needed another angel more. Please look upon his life as a wonderful experience that you were able to be a part of. Keep the smile that was always on his face in your hearts forever. I know I will. I grew up loving the Dahmer family: Mark was my best friend, and Glen, Bobby and John were my idols, and Dottie was always kind and patient and ready to take me in for supper or an impromptu overnight or to clean up my skinned knees. And Herb—Herb worked hard his whole life to support his family, and never once complained that I was always hanging around and mooching off them (at least he never complained to me!). Countless times, he would come home to see Mark and I playing catch, and he would immediately grab a glove and join in. He helped me with my pinewood derby cars, and showed us how to take care of the pool. To me, Herb could do anything, and he could make anything. Herb was a great father to his four boys, a loving and devoted husband to his wife Dottie, a stalwart friend to my father and mother and his church community. And he was a tremendous godly influence on my life, and I know he is now enjoying the rewards of his Father in heaven. Thank you, Herb, for all you did for me and my family!
