JACKSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary

Irma J. Rollins was born on March 16, 1943 in Delta City, MS to the late Alberta Rollins and the late Dan Rollins.


Irma's baptism into the Church of Christ played a major role as she entered into a life of communion with God.  As a devout and dedicated Christian, she continued her membership with the Church of Christ until her death.


She began her educational journey in the Jackson Public School District at Isabel Elementary School and graduated from Jim Hill High School.  Irma further attended and graduated from Jackson State University with her Master degree in education.  A solid educational foundation enabled her to pursue a productive and distinguished career in education. Her career path encompassed teaching in the Canton Public School District in 2005. In her leisure time, she enjoyed giving to others, shopping, and interior design.


She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, to her children, sons: Mark Rollins, daughter: Shonte Darrington (Aaron) of Jackson, MS; her grandchildren: Ebonique Taylor (Albert), and Gregory Chatman of Jackson, MS; her great grandchildren; Gregory Chatman, Jr. and Keiondra Chatman of Tallahassee, FL; her sisters: Alice Johnson (Jackson, MS) and Dorothy Williams (Minneapolis, MS), her brothers: Emmanuel Rollins (Jackson, MS), Dan Rollins, Jr., (Chicago, IL), and Sylvester Rollins (Miami, FL), her aunt Regina Tyler (Jackson, MS), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


She was preceded in death by her daughter Jacqueline Travis, her sisters Ruth Searcy and Geraldine Hayward her brothers: Carl Rollins and Calvin Rollins.
