Grier Funeral Service, Inc. - Charlotte Obituary

Mr. Issac D. Fleming of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on December 26th, 2019. He was a beloved Brother and Uncle, and a cherished Family member, Co-worker and Friend.

He entered this life on June 5, 1953, the beloved Son of the late Luther Samuel Fleming and Lottie Mae Fleming. In his early years, he attended Marie G. Davis Elementary and upon successful completion went on to attend both York Road High School and Harding High School, where he excelled in many subjects. He later graduated in 1971. He furthered his education at CPCC with an associate degree and continued his education at UNCC both majoring in Chemistry.

He was employed as a Chemist by Pulcra Chemicals Corporation, a position he truly enjoyed. His hobbies were many and very diverse. They included cross-country cycling, hiking, boating, caving, fishing and even woodworking. Whenever he could, he traveled extensively to far away places. He also spent many happy hours enjoying the craft of beer-making and attending beer festivals and participating in BBQ competitions with his iconic Green Egg smoker. Issac loved Hockey and Baseball and was a season ticket holder at Knight Stadium. He was also a constant presence in the lives of those he loved, always there on the front row to cheer us on for birthday parties, graduations, family and individual celebrations of all kinds. For so many, he was much more than a Brother or an Uncle — he was a true Friend. In the happiest or saddest of times, Issac could be counted on to be there. His positive influence impacted us all, leaving an indelible mark of good on everyone’s lives that he touched. His memory will live on in our hearts.

Issac Fleming was preceded in death by his parents Luther Samuel Fleming and Lottie Mae Fleming; a Host of Aunts and Uncles, and his Sister-in-law Dottie Fleming.

Not sure what to say?

Issac was in our canoeing class at Central Piedmont CC and went on trips with us to Cumberland Island and Okefenokee swamp and James River, Virginia. I’ll never forget when we were paddling on Green River & he went under a tree limb and a snake fell in his canoe- he padded a few more yards , then calmly went to side of river & carefully got the snake out of his boat. He was quite a guy and will be missed.

Isaac pulls in a big fish off the Outer Banks.

I and the members of the Charlotte Power Squadron fishing group will miss Isaac and his "can-do" attitude. I will be thinking about him when we head out to blue waters later this year.

We jet skied on The River a bit. What a nice guy! I will miss him....
