Not sure what to say?

If you knew Gene you will have to agree he was one of the most pleasant people you've ever met. When I think of him I remember how he was always upbeat. We've lost a fine example of a man and I'm glad I knew him. RIP

Gene and I were lifelong friends at Morson and Carolina. He was the kind of guy you have to like. I played golf with him about 3 years ago, my last contact, and we spent about 3 hours at Wendy's laughing and telling old stories. I didn't know until today that Gene and I both had 5 brothers and sisters. Though we live in different States, I already miss not laughing with Gene again - however we may yet meet again. Jim

Gene and Kitty were our next door neighbors for almost 40 years. Our boys grew up together. It was only after we both retired was I able to really get to know Gene. I couldn't have asked for better neighbors. I am saddened to learn of Gene's passing and want to extend my condolences to the family. He will be missed by many more than you will ever know. RIP Gene.

I worked with Gene at NCDOT for a number of years before moving to another department for a promotion. Gene was the best boss I have ever had. He always, always had your back. His wonderful sense of humor had us laughing every day. When I put in my retirement paperwork Gene was the first person I told. As I sat in his office we started retelling stories from our years working together and were laughing so hard that people were coming in from the hallway to see what in the world was so funny....

Brett, so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. We had some great times together on our SECU trips. I always loved his smile and his gentle way. Hugs, Elaine Perkinson

Mr Gene was a delight to be around with his laughter and love always filling the room. Such a sweet soul that will be missed dearly.

My condolences to the family. I waited on Gene at SECU for many years and he will be truly missed.
